We visited an NGO (Non Governmental Organization) called Casa Hogar Hijos de la Luna de Oaxaca. This Organization provides help to single mothers in need who do difficult jobs. This house is open 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. They asked us not to take any pictures of the childrens' faces to maintain privacy. Many of the children spend a lot of time here while their mother's work, often multiple jobs, to try to provide a good life for their little ones. It was so fun to get to play with the children! I even got to hold a little guy who fell asleep in his high chair after eating. It really tugged at my heartstrings. He reminded me of my little baby. I think it was nice for both of us to snuggle a little bit. He was darling!
Volunteers are often put to work creating beautiful paintings.
Maintaining our teeth can be hard work. It is nice to know that this place is helping out!
Nothing wrong with playing a bit of soccer.
This, soon to be grandma, is our oldest student on the trip. 49 years old! Way to go Marlene!
Stopping for a bite to eat on the way home. Torta al Pastor with Pepsi!
A view from the restaurant! Can you imagine what this would've looked like before all of the buildings and modernization! Gorgeous mountains!
